Descent back into the mountain


Azalie crests the ridge and gets a full perspective of their situation.

"Oh, this isn't good." Azalie lets out a full sigh and her breath just hangs in the air, freezing.
"Dorf, go back down!" She hopes the halfling can hear her because she can't hear herself.

The scenery is stunning, but being a girl elf, Azalie knows beautiful things can also be the deadliest.


Azalie secures the pitons to the ice in several places. She quickly starts securing the rope. Her fingers are getting stiff and she knows she doesn't have much time. She checks the rope for security and they slides back to the opening. (Survival Roll Made)


As Dorf is slowly acending the icy shaft, he can hear Azalie shouting from up above, the situation becomes tense. At the bottom, the rest of the party is left to piece together what's happening above.


Fizz hears Azalie shouting from the top of the ladder for Dorf to go back down. Looking up at the nimble halfling most of the way up the ladder, he wonders what he'll do. Turning to Mutt,

"I don't think she likes it up there. Wonder what happened?"
Giving the dangling rope a little tug, his spirits rise. "Looks like she got the rope all locked up though!"
 "I think I'll wait for them to get off the ladder before I... wait a minute. This looks a lot like a Swamp Adder!"

Fizz is momentarily distracted by the coiled rope, seeing in it a resemblance to a Swamp Adder. Engrossed in his illusion, he casts a cantrip creating the illusion of a snake from the rope, entrancing himself with a melodic tune. His actions, while whimsical, don't immediately contribute to understanding the situation but add a lighter note to an increasingly tense moment.


Mutt, concerned and trying to make sense of Azalie's distant shouts,

"Teddy Bear Butcher! Can you hear what she’s saying?!"
he yells, hoping for some clarity.

His tone conveys his worry, but his lack of panic suggests he's still hopeful that Azalie is safe.


Dorf, upon hearing Azalie's command, wastes no time. He promptly reverses his direction, descending back down the shaft. Descending is easier than ascending, as he uses the rails of the latter to descend all the way to the bottom in just a few seconds.


Meanwhile, Uptharr, standing at the bottom of the shaft, looks up with concern and confusion. Hearing Azalie's muffled shouts and seeing Dorf descending rapidly, he realizes something is amiss.

"What's going on up there? Is Azalie alright?" he asks aloud, his voice booming in the icy tunnel.

He prepares to assist Dorf as he comes down, ready to catch him if needed, and to gather information about their next move.


Azalie, after evaluating the treacherous conditions at the surface, makes the swift decision to descend back to the safety of the cave. She maneuvers down the rope she had secured, her ice pick held firmly in her other hand, as insurance against any potential fall. Her descent is quick but controlled. The knot she tied and secured


Upon reaching the bottom, Azalie’s is clearly cold, her nose and face bright red. She wastes no time in briefing her companions on the situation above.

"It's almost a complete whiteout up there!" she exclaims, her breath visible in the cold air of the cave. "The wind is howling like a pack of wolves, and the snow... it's blinding. We can't go up there, not in these conditions. We would freeze before we could build a shelter."

Dorf, who had reversed his climb midway, nods in agreement. "I figured something was wrong when you shouted."

Uptharr, taking in Azalie's report, adds, "We've faced tough odds before. For now, let's focus on staying warm and safe. Perhaps at first light we can see what the conditions are like."

The group collectively agrees, understanding that venturing into the storm at the surface in the middle of the night, is not an option.

The Snowy Expanse

Dorf looks with concern at the obviously cold elf and starts digging things out of his pack. First he hands her his blanket, then he pulls out a flask of spirits and hands it to her,

“just a nip will warm you right up!”

Azalie pushes the spirits back into Dorf's hand and politely declines the offer, explaining to Dorf that she doesn't drink, but she expresses her appreciation for his thoughtfulness.

Dorf smiles and puts the spirits away as he looks around at the rest of the group expectantly,

“Should we attempt another fire, or should we clear the rest of the cave?” He then starts to look for any broken wood or more cloth to start a fire.

Fizzbum is pulled from his illusion of the dancing snake by the sound of a flask opening. Quickly recognizing Dorf with the flask he starts to approach, but seeing Azalie with Frost rimming her hair and eyelashes, he grows a bit more concerned.

"Well, that doesn't look like it feels very good!! How bad is it up there lady?" Fizzbum takes one of her hands in his two small hands and begins to chafe some warmth back into them. "I don't have much in my pouch to warm things up, but Mom always said that I had warm, healing hands! We'll get you thawed out in a jiffy."

Fizzbum looks up at the massive ladder, and then back at Azalie, then across at Dorf. Something begins to brew in his curious mind.


"Maybe this cave isn't so bad after all? I mean the nice Elemental person seemed to understand we just want to find our way out. We found some most excellent Sparkle squids in that pool back there! We even found a decent place to rest, if we can clear out all the bones and stuff.
Maybe we shoo that old mean Yeti out of the cave, sweep up all the old bones, and have a camp out in the main room! I betcha I can make a hammock out of my bedroll to hang between the Stalaggymitts. At least it would give us a good place to explore outside! Maybe I can even find a snowshoe rabbit! I've always wanted to see if they are as soft as they actually look! Did you know Mr. Dorf that they are Brown in the summer and white in the winter!! Amazing! I'd actually love to change color if I could, but Mom said I was blue because she ate too many blueberries when I was in her belly, so I started to eat a bunch of Raspberries to see if I could turn myself red instead. Turns out they just give you a belly ache!"

Fizzbum pauses to catch his breath...and gets distracted by Az's hand seeming to get some color back. Dropping that hand he reaches for the other and begins to try and warm it up.


Mutt shifts impatiently as Azalie and Dorf descend the ladder and return to the cavern. Seeing Azalie’s frost dusted hair and eyelashes, Mutt frowns.

“Maybe we can try heading back up after daybreak. Does anyone know which direction or how close we might be to the nearest town?”

Mutt looks back down the way they came and shakes his head towards Fizz.

“The authors of the journal we found managed to survive a while down here but they weren’t able able to uh, make it a home. The Mephits saw to that. We need to get out of here.”

Azalie lands her feet back on solid ground. After the care she received from Fizz, Azalie grabs her wool scraf from her pack and wraps in around her shoulders. She makes sure that it isn't too tight. Azalie isn't a fan of things around her neck. A fear carried with her from her time...

"Thank you my blue friend." Her hands are feeling better. "There for a moment, I was as blue as you."
Her teeth chattering, "Sorry to worry everyone.
The weather will be sure to bring us a cold death."
Azalie hates the cold. "I secured the rope at the top. We should stay down here tonight and try to go up again in the morning."

She shrugs in her shoulders, tilts her head, and gives them all a convincing smile.

"There is a blizzard out there. The moon is high. We can rest and maybe hear a tale or two."

Azalie isn't worried about the ice mephitis anymore. This is the first time she's felt like part of a team, needing others for help isn't so bad.


Resting in the cave

Understanding the severity of the conditions on the surface as described by Azalie, You all decide to stay put in the cave for the next few hours and see what the conditions are in the morning.

You find a suitable spot within the cave where you can wait out the storm comfortably and safely. You use some of the pieces of broken ladder to build a warm fire, and make preparations to ensure you are as comfortable as possible under the circumstances. The fire brings comforting warmth to the freezing cave.


During your rest, you gather your supplies, spreading out any available blankets and setting up makeshift seats or beds around the fire with your packs, and assess your inventory.

During this waiting period, you complete a short rest and engage in quiet conversations, sharing stories or strategies for your next move. provides an opportunity for you all to tend to gear, check your equipment, and simply rest and gather your strength. (+120 free time awarded)


Ascending the rope.

As dawn breaks, you can see some light at the top of the ice shaft, the party prepares to ascend the rope to the surface.

Azalie turns to the group, with a determined look in her eyes.
"Alright, I'm going up first to scout. I'll check if the weather's calmed down and see what we're up against," she says, as her breath forms a foggy cloud in front of her due to the cold. "Keep a close eye on the rope. If there's trouble, I'll give it a tug. Otherwise, I'll signal when it's clear for the next person." With these words, she grips the rope firmly and starts her climb.

The rope, securely fastened by Azalie the previous day, holds her weight without issue. Her climb is smooth and steady, a stark contrast to the difficult ascent she faced before. Azalie is pleased that the knots she tied and the pitons she planted are holding so well, Still she is cautious and has her pick and piton boots on in case of trouble. She also takes all her belongings with her on the climb this time, to lighten the burden for the rest of the group behind her, and soon she emerges onto the surface. Reaching the top, she carefully emerges onto the snowy surface, ready to assess the surroundings.

The landscape is still stark and unforgiving—a vast expanse of rolling, snow-covered hills under a heavy, gray sky. The wind, though less severe than the previous night, still howls across the landscape, biting at her exposed skin and whipping snow into her face. Still, this weather could last weeks or even months in Icewind dale, so this could be as good as it gets.


Azalie signals that the rest of the party can begin their climb. With the rope secured and in place, the rest of the party can ascend without too much difficulty (no climb check needed)


Dorf climbs up next, followed by Fizzbum, Mutt and finally Uptharr.

It takes a good hour for everyone to make it to the top. Everyone successfully gets to the top with all your equipment.


As you take in their surroundings, it becomes evident that you are in a perilous situation. The cold is intense, seeping through your clothing and armor, chilling you to the bone. The deep snow hinders your movement, making every step an effort. The lack of any distinct landmarks or signs of civilization adds to the uncertainty—You have no clear direction to go.


As Uptharr gazes out at the vast, snow-covered expanse, his expression turns thoughtful, reflecting the gravity of their situation. He takes a moment to assess the landscape, then turns to the group.

"Looks like we've got quite the trek ahead of us," he begins, "This terrain is unforgiving, and we need to be smart about how we navigate it."
He pauses, formulating a plan. "I don't think we should stay in the cave. We can't survive long inside there either, and we know there are Yeti's and maybe even a frost giant down there. So I think we should try and find another shelter or civilization out here. First, we should stick close together, no one wanders off. We can't afford to lose anyone in these conditions. Second, we need to keep moving to stay warm, but we also need to be mindful of our energy. We don't know how long we'll be out here."
Uptharr looks around, his eyes scanning the horizon. "We should look for landmarks or any signs that might lead us to shelter or at least out of the wind. Any caves, rock formations, could give us some respite. as we travel. And we should take as much wood as we can, we will need to build fires to stay alive."

Uptharr suggests dismantling the old ladder and using it for firewood. There is plenty there, but it will take a few hours to harvest.


You huddle together to discuss your next move. The wind muffles your voices as you strategize, trying to decide whether to go back into the cave, or push forward in hopes of finding a way out of the hills, and hopefully, civilization.

Navigating the Wastes


Dorf huddles wrapped in his two sets of clothing, armor, and a blanket stamping his feet trying to keep circulation going. He looks up to see the path of the sun to try to get his bearings.

“Anyone see anything remotely familiar, mountain peaks, or anything like that?” While everyone is deciding what to do next Dorf will start gathering firewood from the ladder starting at the bottom, tying rungs to the rope for the others to haul up.

The weather is horrible but Azalie thinks she has an idea which way is north. “Does anyone have a map from our last caravan? We were headed to Ten Towns.”

Everyone shakes their heads, as no one has a map. The party had been traveling on a well known marked trail, with camp spots every day or so march. But now, you all realize that you are lost, unsure how far off the trail you currently are.

Azalie, being a ranger, is very adept at navigating, but in a white wasteland, with grey skies, it is not so easy to determine direction.


Based off the cavern map they made, they should be 340 feet to the east from the cavern were they awoke. They never went the direction of the yetis. There has to be an opening close to them.


“We need to head away. I’m just not entirely sure in which direction.” Azalie starts to gather up some wood. “We may not be able to carry the whole ladder Uptharr. Let’s grab what we can. I still have some fire wood in my pack.”

Azalie is ready to get moving.


After spending a few minutes gathering up the firewood from the broken ladder, the party bundles the pieces of wood into easy to carry firewood bundles. Each bundle will provide a nice warm fire for 3-4 hours...

Skill Challenge: Navigating the Icy Tundra


Objective: The party needs to find their way through the harsh, snowy terrain to a place of safety.

Successes and Failures: The challenge requires 6 successes before 3 failures. Each success brings the party closer to their destination, while each failure represents a setback due to the harsh environment or other hazards.

For this challenge - each of you must choose a skill and post how this skill is helping the group navigate the tundra. After you each pick a skill, you also must make a Consitution check.


Each of these skills has a Different DC, and earns you points toward finding shelter, or civilzation.

Make sure each skill roll is accompanied by how you are using the skill to help the group.

Fizzbum snuggles close to Uptharr as they huddle at the top of the ladder, wrapping his blanket around little form, and over his bombastic red hair. Unfortunately he has no clue as to the direction of the town, or the path that the caravan was traveling at this point. Luckily, even as brutally cold as it is, he can still feel a connection to nature here, and his druidic strength resists the frostbite for now. Checking to make sure that Lumpy is tucked deep inside his vest, he looks up at the taller members of the party, wondering how they don't fall over from those cold breezes. He sneaks one blue finger out of his blanket, and points it at Azalie as she gazes into the distance and casts Guidance on her once again, hoping that her ranger abilities can get them out of this mess.

"I've heard elves have awesome eyesight lady. You happen to see an inn with some hot tea anywhere nearby?"

Fizzbum has quickly grown to trust the elven ranger as she has led them twice now through their early trials as a party. Seeing Dorf stomping his feet, he takes the suggestion and stomps his own boots and rubs his little arms inside the blanket.


"I hope they don't expect me to take the lead eh Dorf! I fear I'd be in a little over my head! hehe!"
Fizzbum flashes a silly smile at Dorf, white teeth sparkling against his dark blue skin inside his blanket hood.

As he emerges from the cave mouth, Mutt shivers against the biting cold and pulls his cloak tightly around his ears. He stares out at the rolling landscape as the snowdrifts and scraggly pines seem to stretch out for miles in all directions. Muttering a silent prayer to whatever gods might be listening, he looks hopefully to Azalie and Fizzbum.

“So you both seem to be at home out here in the wilds. Any idea which way we need to go?”



Skill Challenge: Navigating the Icy Tundra

the party ventures through the icy, windswept tundra, each member contributes their skills to navigate the harsh environment. Below covers 4 hours of wandering in the icy wastes.


Azalie, with keen eyes, scouts ahead. Her Perception roll of 14 (Success 1/6) proves just enough to spot some faint signs that could indicate a distant shelter or traces of civilization. She points out subtle markers – perhaps a change in the snowdrift patterns or a distant outline that could be a structure – giving the group a glimmer of hope.


Dorf, trying to ascertain their bearings, focuses on the Survival aspect of their journey. Despite his best efforts, his Survival roll of 14 falls short (Failure 1/3). The landscape is disorienting, with the endless snow and wind making it difficult to maintain a consistent direction. His attempt leaves the party slightly off-course, unwittingly circling back on their tracks at times.


Fizzbum, engaging with the Nature around them, tries to find the best route to Ten Towns but struggles significantly with a Nature roll of 4 (Failure 2/3). The natural indicators he would typically rely on are obscured by the snow and wind, and his unfamiliarity with this particular terrain leads to more confusion.


Mutt, with a remarkable Stealth roll of 24 (Success 2/6), scouts ahead and takes care to cover their tracks. His expertise ensures that they leave minimal signs of their passage, protecting them from potential predators or other dangers. His actions are quiet and calculated, providing a sense of security amidst the uncertainty.


Uptharr, drawing on his knowledge of history, attempts to recall any relevant information that might aid the party's journey through the icy wilderness. The roll of 9 (Failure 3/3) indicates that his memory fails him at this crucial moment. He shakes his head slightly, an apologetic look towards his companions.

"I'm sorry, friends," he says, his voice almost lost in the howling wind. "The tales and histories I know don't shed light on our path here."

Succumbing to the elements:

the freezing conditions of the tundra are relentless. Mutt and Azalie, each fail their Constitution checks, succumbing to the biting cold. The wind cuts through their clothing, chilling them to the bone. They start to show signs of fatigue, their movements becoming slower and more labored, their breaths turning into icy puffs in the frigid air.

The Giant

Lost in the frosty tundra, you trudge through the relentless snowstorm, your visibility severely limited. The howling wind and thick flurries create near whiteout conditions. It's a struggle to keep moving, each step requiring more effort than the last. Fatigue begins to set in, and the cold bites harder with every passing minute.


Suddenly, a looming figure gradually emerges from the swirling snow ahead. At first, it appears as a shadow, indistinct and almost ghostly. But as the figure draws closer, its massive form becomes unmistakably clear - it's a Frost Giant. Perhaps even the one that had captured you earlier. two pairs of glowing blue eyes pierce the blizzard as well, as two imposing winter wolves snarl at you as they stand by the giant's side, waiting for his orders.


Standing tall against the blizzard, the giant's icy blue skin and frost-covered beard make it almost blend into the snowy landscape. the ground to trembles slightly with each step it takes, and in its hand, it wields a large, frozen hammer, crusted with ice and snow.


The party stops in their tracks, as the Giant's eyes lock lock onto the party. It lets out a deep, thunderous roar that echoes across the tundra and the two wolves growl, ready to strike.


Mutt, who has been stealthily scouting ahead of the party, is about 25 feet to the left of the rest of the group, and seemingly undetected so far by the giant and the wolves.

You all realize very quickly, that you cannot outrun this looming giant or the wolves, especially in these conditions.


The Frost Giant's shadow looms larger as he gazes at the party amidst the swirling blizzard. His deep voice rumbles through the frosty air in broken common.

"You tiny creatures... make jest of Hrimthor? No more! You slip through fingers like melting ice... not again. This time, Hrimthor feeds you to the Yetis, piece... by frozen piece. You will chill the belly of beasts, your screams will ice the wind. No flee, no hide... your bones crunch under Yeti fangs, your blood slush on snow."

Move Action: Moved 10 feet - Uptharr stomps through the snow, advancing toward the enemies, as he prepares for charge.

Standard Action: Uptharr plants his feet firmly in the snow and draws out both his Mace and Flail, reading himself for charge. He will strike any hostile creature that comes within Melee range.

Move Action: Moved 15 feet - the winter wolf bounds over the jagged ice, baring its fangs with a snarl, it lands with a thud beside Uptharr.

Braced for charge, Uptharr swings his mace in a swift arc, connecting with a loud crunch against the wolf`s side; the beast`s yelp is lost in the howling wind, as he deals 9 damage

Uptharr's Readied Bonus Action: Uptharr attacks the Winter Wolf with his Flail

Uptharr resolved to survive and taking advantage of his last blow, swings his flail through the frigid air to land a devastating critical hit on the Wolfs head. The wolf recoils as a spray of crimson stains the pristine snow, dealing 12 points of damage!


Standard Action: You are attacking Uptharr with your Bite.

Still reeling from Uptharr`s blow, the winter wolf snaps back with a ferocious bite, its massive jaws clamping down on Uptharr`s arm. The huge wolf`s powerful jaws bite into his armor puncturing all the way to his flesh, drawing forth a gush of blood that sprays onto the wolf`s teeth and snow. Uptharr grunts in pain, taking 9 points of damage!

Yikes! One at a time please!!

Standard Action: Luck was on your side!

Fizzbum extends his hands towards the ground, invoking his Entangle spell. Instantly, the snow beneath the giants feet begins to churn as frost-covered vines explode up and try to wrap around his massive legs.

Save Throw vs Entangle:

Young Frost Giant: Failure - Icy vines spring up, ensnaring the Frost Giant`s legs in a tight grip. The giant roars in frustration, struggling against the sudden icy restraints that anchor him to the spot.

Winter Wolf: Success - the winter wolf, with its keen senses, leaps aside with an agile grace, avoiding the creeping vines trying to ensnare it.


Azalie:

Move Action: Azalie moves with a grace and agility that seems almost supernatural, bounding effortlessly across the snow-covered terrain. Almost as if she's dancing with the wind, her feet barely touching the ground. Moving 20 feet to position herself for a clear shot.

Bonus Action: You are casting Hail of Thorns on your arrow.

Azalie whispers an ancient elvish incantation, and her next arrow begins to shimmer with an orange, arcane energy. When loosed, this arrow will explode upon impact, sending a lethal cascade of razor-sharp thorns spiraling outward in all directions.

"Uptharr!! Get away from my friend you monstrosity."

Standard Action: You are attacking Winter Wolf with your Bow

"Feel the burn on my anger!" Azalie grabs an arrow and quickly lights it on fire with Oil and her tinder box. She aims for the most likely spot to hit the beast closest to Uptharr. "Taste my wrath."

Azalie`s bowstring sings as she releases her flaming arrow and you can barely hear it whistle as it flies through the icy storm, leaving a feint trail of smoke. On impact, the shaft burrows deep into the wolf`s abdomen, and then with a burst of magic, the Hail of Thorns spell detonates! The air fills with the sound of countless thorns tearing through the wolf`s flesh. She deals 11 points of damage from the arrow, plus 8 points of fire damage. (4 x 2) (double damage, being weak to fire), and another 5 points from the hail of thorns, for a total of 24 points of damage!

Winter Wolf: Failure - The beast howls in agony, unable to escape the hail of thorns, its snowy fur matted with blood and thistles as the full force of the spell is unleashed.


Young Frost Giant:

Standard Action: Makes save to break free from being entangled.

Save throw vs Entangle:

Young Frost Giant: Failure - The giant roars in anger as it struggles against the gripping vines, unable to free itself.

Bonus Action: You are attacking Azalie with your Javelin

Roaring angrily the giant pulls out a Javelin and chucks it at Azalie, "Not so swift now, She-elf!"

With an angry growl of frustration, the Frost Giant takes a massive Ice-covered javelin and takes aim at Azalie. With a heave of his colossal arm, he hurls the weapon through the swirling blizzard. It flies through the blizzard, striking Azalie with a sickening thud, the force of the blow knocking the wind from her lungs. She takes 8 damage from the blow.


Save Throw vs Knocked Prone from Javelin:

Azalie: Failure - The javelin, thrown with immense force, catches her off guard. The impact is sudden and brutal, overwhelming her petite frame. She is sent tumbling backward, losing her balance and landing hard, butt first, into the cold, deep snow.


WINTER WOLF 2

Suddenly his small body begins to thicken and lengthen, his whimpers turn into growls as thick black hair grows from his arms and legs. Emerging from the Snow with a roar is a smallish wolverine with bright blue fur, and a red ridge of hair running down his spine.

Fizzbum, calling upon his druidic powers, begins the mystical process of Wild Shape transformation. His form shimmers and morphs, contorting and reshaping until he takes on the appearance of a snow wolverine. The transformation is swift and seamless, leaving behind a fierce and agile wolverine where once stood the tiny gnome.

Uptharr gets to his feet after being thrown by the Giant, and grabs his weapons and looks around at all his equipment scattered in the snow, as he sees the Yeti's charging from the flank.

The flask strikes the Frost Giant squarely in the face with amazing accuracy, shattering upon impact. Instantly, a thick, flammable oil coats the giant in a slick, glistening sheen. "Dorf, I hope your rage will protect this time. I`m sorry my friend." Azalie knows there`s a chance her friend will be injured. She doesn`t see any other choice. The Yeti`s are approaching fast and 3 giant beasts isn`t what she calls a fair fight. "I hope this scares the babies away." She lights the rope.

Azalie retrieves her tinderbox, her cold, numb fingers working as quickly and efficiently as she can during the raging battle. She strikes a spark, igniting the oil-soaked arrow and rope, which burst into flame with a whoosh. The arrow, now a blazing beacon, is ready to be unleashed.


Standard Action: You are attacking Young Frost Giant with your Bow

"Take this you son of a goblin!" She hears nothing but the sound of the arrow cutting the air. "I hope this hurts."

Azalie launches her flaming arrow into the blizzard. The fiery projectile cuts a bright path through the swirling snow, striking the Frost Giant squarely in the chest. Upon contact, the flames instantly ignite the oil-soaked giant, that quickly erupts into an intense blaze. The giant roars as he takes 5 points from her arrow, and another 10 points (weak to fire) from the oil. Totaling 15 points of damage!


YOUNG FROST GIANT:

Move Action: Moved 10 feet - The Oil soaked giant rolls into the deep snow, trying to extinguish the flames. As he rolls right over Dorf, the tiny halfling must try and get out of the way. Make a DEX save throw, DC 14 or be crushed for 2d6+3 damage.

Save vs Rolling, Flaming Giant:

Dorf: Success - Dorf finds himself in the path of the rolling, flaming Frost Giant. With quick reflexes and fueled by the Bardic Inspiration he received earlier, he narrowly dodges out of the way. The giant`s massive form passes just inches from him, He even feels the heat of the flames singeing the air.


Move Action: Move - Stands Up From Prone, costing 20 Movement. Rising from his prone position, the flames still consuming his oil-drenched body. His eyes fixate on the arrow, still lodged in his chest, with the rope acting as a fiery tether. He grimaces at Azalie.

"You meddling elf, your flames may burn, but they won`t save you!" the Frost Giant roars at Azalie, his voice booming with anger. "I`ll crush you like the insect you are!" , hurling his frosty maul towards her with a rage-fueled throw.

The heavy maul smashes into Azalie with a tremendous force, the sound of impact echoing through the blizzard with a sickening crunch as she is knocked into the deep snow. She hits the ground hard, as the maul deals 9 points of crushing damage.

Azalie is dreaming...as she shakes herself awake, the sound returns to her ears. Muffled and getting louder and sharper in milliseconds, Not even a second has passed and she tenses her muscles for a quick reaction. "Mutt!!" she soon realizes that parts of the dream were reality, lost in her psyche. All of a sudden the wind speeds up and chills her to the bone. In animal like reactions, Azalie rolls to her side and throws her Bronze dagger through the air at the Ice Giant.

KILL SHOT: Still reeling from the blow of the frosty maul, Azalie quickly regains her composure and throws her dagger at the Frost Giant. The blade spins through the air, striking the giant squarely between the eyes with deadly accuracy. This final, decisive blow causes the giant to stagger and then collapse dealing 7 points of damage, Killing him!

...she can`t see what happened because she immediately pans her attention to the Yeti. "Back away from him you flea bag." She sits up quickly and draws back her bow. She is so fearful of Mutt getting killed, that she hears her bow and string sing under pressure. "Just give me this shot." She lets the arrow go. It soars through the air. Suddenly a quick burst of icy wind blows directly into her tear filled eyes.

Without a glance at the falling Frost Giant, Azalie swiftly redirects her focus to the Yeti that is threatening Mutt. She quickly sits up on her butt, the melody of Mutt`s song still providing her with inspiration (+3 Bardic Inspiration). Her arrow launches flawlessly, striking the Yeti in its right shoulder, causing it to stagger backward from the impact, dealing 6 points of damage! Enraged and now fixated on Azalie, the Yeti lets out a thunderous roar and, abandoning Mutt, begins its charge across the tundra, barreling towards the Elf with glowing white eyes.


Move Action: Move - Stands Up From Prone, costing 20 Movement. As she prepares to intercept the charging Yeti.


DORF:

Move Action: Moved 15 feet - Dorf gets a running start and leaps onto his shield, aiming to use it as a makeshift sled to intercept the charging Yeti closing in on Azalie. Striking from flank, the Yeti tyke yips and growls as it slashes with its sharp claws.

The yeti tyke, yipping excitedly in the heat of battle, makes an attempt to slash Mutt from it`s flanking position. Mutt`s quick reflexes allow him to evade the inexperienced swipe of the young yeti, taking no damage.

Move Action: - The wounded Yeti Tyke, screams as it flees into the snow, provoking attacks of opportunities by Mutt and Dorf.


Dorf Attack of Opportunity: You are attacking Yeti Tyke with your Hand Axe

KILL SHOT: As the wounded Yeti Tyke attempts to flee, leaving itself defensless, Dorf seizes the opportunity, and ruthlessly wings his axe, delivering a fatal blow to the tyke`s skull. The blow deals 10 points of damage, splitting it`s tiny skull open, as the beast falls headlong into the snow.

As Mutt reaches for Wolver-Fizz, a deep growl escapes the animal's throat. Eyes still blazing from the recent combat, he shuffles his furry feet backwards. turns and begins to explore the edges of the battle scene for a scent path to the Giants cave. Stopping by to grab the pack that dropped where he transformed, he circles the fallen enemies snuffling and inspecting them for things he might like. Seeing Dorf getting ready to chop off the head of one of the smaller yeti's he gives a sharp bark and growl, shaking his bright blue head and looking deep in Dorf's eyes. It's obvious that Fizz disapproves of the desecration of animals, enemies or no.

Mutt face lights up as the yeti tykes begin to scamper off. He growls and shouts after them as they disappear over the snowbank. "HA! Yes! Run you little bastards! GRAAAH!"


Mutt gestures quickly and creates the illusion of a giant hand giving the yetis the middle finger as they run away. Turning back to the weary and battered group, he beams at them all. "Gods! Ha! You all! We're alive!!! I could kiss you all!" Mutt rushes over and plants a large kiss right on top of Dorf's gore splattered bald head. Spitting some of the blood that smeared itself onto his face, he turns and finds Fizz the wolverine. "And you! You amazing little fuzzbucket! Come here!" Mutt goes to pick up…

Azalie sees Dorf get hit by her spell. She was sure he'd survive and is happy he only took half of the flesh tearing thorns. "Sorry Dorf, I was hoping you could dodge that, however, I'm most impressed by your resilience.

Azalie sees a form coming into vision. The shadowy figure is frightening. His breath can be seen as a huge billowing cloud, surrounding his frame. His body heat must be high to keep a creature like that standing.


The wind dies down in slow motion and Azalie holds her breath as the snow slows, as does time. She lets out a shout “CALL TO ARMS!” but it never leaves her lips. Her breath stolen by the cold.


Azalie locks eyes with the Ice Giant, she’s so uncomfortable looking at him that she looks away with shame. Only to see the two huge white wolves, with entrails hanging from their teeth. “What have I done?” Azalie thinks to herself.

Dorf nods at Fizz and grins. He looks around and notices that Uptharr is probably the only other one that will be able to carry much firewood. Determined to be of use to the party he picks up 3 bundles of firewood and follows in the footsteps of his new found friends. (Athleticism roll)
